You haven’t heard from me for a few days because I was internet-less in Warwick last weekend and reading an un-blogworthy book after that. But, at Susan’s recommendation, I’ve started Out Stealing Horses: A Novel by Per Petterson which is destined to be blogworthy. So, stay tuned for that.
In the meantime, I’d like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. There is so much in the world to be thankful for..so much beauty, like this deer (Susan took this picture) staring at us as we walked by, the friends we’ve made both old and new, our families near and far, our health.
I also hope to be able to give thanks next year that our soldiers overseas returned home safe and sound, that this horrific economy has run its course and we’re on the road back to prosperity, that hunters have stopped killing beautiful, innocent animals for sport, that retailers realized that a holiday is meant for families, not for working, that hatred and bias have disappeared and that we as a world embrace, rather than reject, differences among people. I know it’s a lot to ask, but, as Susan says, “I can dream, can’t I?”
So, from our families to yours, have a wonderful holiday.
