I was walking along Drew Road, in Warwick on Sunday. It’s a lovely country road. We always comment about all the beer cans and water bottles and soda bottles along the roadside. Why anyone would throw a bottle out of a car window is beyond me. It’s just rude.
Up ahead of us, a woman was carrying a big white plastic trash bag and was picking up bottles…40 or 50 of them. We chatted and learned she’s a Drew. Her family named the road. I always walk along our property and pick up the trash. It just makes the road and neighborhood that much prettier. If everyone did that, it would take a second.
If people were polite and threw their bottles in the proper receptacle, it would be even nicer…but people being who they are, that won’t happen. Book lovers are people who appreciate beauty, whether it’s the turn of a phrase, the art on the book cover, etc. Maybe if we band together, we can get a few people to change their nasty habits. Pleeeze!!!!
