As many of you know, the High Holy Days are one of my favorite holidays. The beginning of the new year heralds the crispness of autumn with it’s myriad of rich colors before the dormant winter which gives us time to renew. It’s the appropriate time to reflect on the past year and formulate our hopes for the future.
I have been blessed this past year with wonderful family and friends. It’s been a year of renewal. I’ve been able to do the things I love. Professionally I hope I’ve helped someone in some infinitesimal way to achieve his/her goals and make life better. And if next year is a repeat of this one, then I’ll be happy.
For everyone out there, regardless of religious affiliation, sexual orientation, race, creed or color, I wish a year filled with health and happiness. May everyone have enough food on the table. May everyone get a good education. May everyone have equal rights with everyone else. And may the craziness of armed conflict cease and peace reign over the world. I know it’s a lot to ask, but if we work towards that goal, who knows, we may get closer.
L’Shana Tova. A Happy New Year to one and all. May it be a sweet one.
